McAfee Boosts Cloud Security with New Identity and Access Management Solutions

McAfee has introed new cloud security solutions to expand its Security Connected portfolio and offer enterprises a secure way to access sensitive data residing in cloud environments. The newly introduced solutions are McAfee Cloud Single Sign On and McAfee One Time Password, both initially designed and sold by its parent company Intel. Since the acquisition by Intel in 2010, the two companies have been putting a significant joint effort into providing organizations with security solutions that will alleviate enterprise security concerns about moving to the cloud. McAfee now aims to help IT administrators better manage cloud-based application accounts by leveraging its new cloud controls for easier, more secure, and compliant access to sensitive business data residing in the cloud.

McAfee Single Sign On solution includes SSO for hundreds of popular cloud-based apps, built-in two-factor authentication, hybrid deployment options (on-premise and SaaS edition) as well as automated account provisioning and de-provisioning. The McAfee One Time Password solution offers businesses a scalable authentication that will deliver one-time password to mobile devices and PCs. Multi-factor authentication can be delivered via a smart phone, SMS, email, or a third-party token.

“There is a huge shift underway to extend enterprise-class security to cloud-based applications and services while also consolidating security onto just a few key platforms,” Pat Calhoun, SVP and general manager of Network Security at McAfee said in a press statement. He added that the company is focused on a few “hot spots” relating to identity and is putting an effort to aid their customers solve key challenges while maintaining business agility.

McAfee’s goal is to provide organizations with a comprehensive web protection that will enable them to securely access their business applications, while simultaneously providing protection against advanced malware. The company has also introduced a McAfee Identity Center of Expertise, which employs cloud security and identity experts who will offer support to users facing issues related to identity and access management.
