Dell Software has announced the release of Migration Manager for Enterprise Social, the market’s first enterprise social migration solution, which will be showcased at Microsoft Ignite 2015. Organizations seeking better communication, collaboration, productivity, and employee engagement have driven the rapid adoption of a variety of enterprise social networks like Microsoft Yammer, Jive Software, Salesforce Chatter and others. Migration Manager for Enterprise Social allows organizations to consolidate Jive content into Yammer, eliminating the cost and burden of supporting multiple social networks and enabling organizations to maximize their investment in Office 365 and Yammer.

Supporting and maintaining multiple enterprise social platforms is a drain on resources and budget. As individual departments within an organization deploy a social platform to meet their specific needs, the company over time finds itself supporting multiple, disparate social networks with redundant functionality and content. This creates silos of content and collaboration that are difficult for IT to govern and control, and also frustrating to users who have to log into multiple systems with no easy way to share content.

Organizations benefit from consolidating content and standardizing on a unified enterprise social platform. The lack of available enterprise social discovery and migration tools make it difficult for organizations to fully understand the vast amount of content in their current environment to ensure that only relevant – and not duplicated – content is migrated efficiently. Thus, organizations face a risky, complex and expensive project with no guarantees of a smooth migration without system downtime and data loss. This ultimately disrupts user productivity and thwarts momentum and adoption of the social platform.

Dell simplifies and accelerates enterprise social migration

Dell Migration Manager for Enterprise Social simplifies and accelerates consolidation projects by discovering the content the organization wants to move, and mitigates risk by migrating with high fidelity and minimal downtime, while retaining permissions, metadata and rich text. The solution enables organizations to fully understand what’s in their current environment to ensure that only relevant Jive content is migrated to Yammer, and ensures that the migration is completed on time, on budget, and with ZeroIMPACT to end users. The new solution’s most important features include:

  • Discovery dashboard – Enables the migration team to discover the entire Jive environment quickly and easily, including all places, discussions, documents, attachments, and metadata such as author, creation date, modified date and size. This insight helps determine what should be moved and what can be eliminated, so the migration strategy can be planned with confidence to reduce project risk, cost, time and complexity.
  • Extreme data fidelity – Facilitates migration of discussions and documents from Jive places to Yammer groups with high fidelity, giving users a smooth transition experience. Preserve essential content, including metadata, permissions, attachments, links, and other rich text.
  • Maintains security – Preserves user and document permissions by mapping Jive accounts to Yammer user accounts quickly and seamlessly.

Dell’s ZeroIMPACT migration solutions unlock the full potential of Office 365

Dell has extensive experience in email migration, having migrated more than 50 million mailboxes to Exchange and Exchange Online. While other vendors focus on email migrations only, Dell is also uniquely positioned to help organizations adopt the full scope of Office 365 workloads across productivity, collaboration, cloud storage and enterprise social, with capabilities to migrate virtually all business-critical applications and content previously stored in IBM Notes, SharePoint on-premises deployments, Google Drive or local file shares.
