Today’s enterprises invest a lot of money and resources to secure and protect their critical IT infrastructure and prevent any security threats, yet the large majority of security managers feel their organization’s applications are still vulnerable to hacker attacks, a new study published by Quotium found. The research had for a goal to better understand application security solutions used in leading corporations in Europe and the U.S., and for this purpose, Quotium interviewed more than 500 CIOs and security managers also revealing the security state of their apps and the frequency of hacker attacks in their organizations.
The research has shown that most of the large organizations interviewed have processes in place to test their web apps vulnerabilities. Most of them use penetration testing services, automated testing tools – mostly applications scanners or static code analyzers – or web application firewalls to secure their assets, Quotium analysts say.
Despite employing all these security solutions to prevent application threats, a majority of security managers are unsure of the current level of their application security state and fell that a hacker could manage to exploit their applications, the study found. Almost 50% of interviewed security managers do not have a clear view on the attacks currently performed against their organization, and only 11% felt that their applications were secure.
Even though almost all organizations invest time, money and energy into protecting their infrastructure, most applications remain vulnerable and are still being attacked.
